Halloween

So it's another Halloween, which means another puke fest of candy and too much chocolate.

For me, anyway.

Newton did it Better

No reason for the title of this post, I'm just using it as filler really.

Have been running for the last few days and it has certainly made me feel a little better, but I'm quite tired now so I'm going to rest.

I know I know

Haven't updated this blog in a while, and it isn't because I've been away or not had access to the Internet it's more down to the fact that I am literally running out of things to say.

I went for a run today, the second in a row, which I must say is pretty impressive and tiring... mostly just tiring.

I've also decided that I really do need to crack down on my junk food intake because the weight I gained during my down period is weighing me down which is rather frustrating.

Long Days

The previous two days have melded into one in my mind so I thought it appropriate to produce one post for them both.

So I have been quite busy, and tired actually, which is unusual because as far as I can tell I'm sleeping for enough hours a night to not be tired.

Because of this, I won't be able to spend much time writing simply because I'm close to nodding off.

Instead, I'll return to my over brewed tea I left about ten minutes ago.

Mmm.

We're Doomed

No, not really, but I've got nothing else to say.

Bah.

8000 Words

And I'm aiming for a first.

Right, so I have all the ideas I need to get my dissertation started.

So instead of spending half an hour trying to come up with something to post, I'm going to just leave it as this.

Reviewer

I've just put the finishing touches on the second draft of what I hope will be the first of my many film reviews for my University's new magazine.

I have written about Up, which, as you should all know, is the latest Pixar offering.

Ferry Across the Mersey

I didn't post yesterday because I spent it in Liverpool wandering around.

Also, I went out on Thursday night which was relatively exciting.

Jeez, this blog is becoming boring, I'm even falling asleep myself as a write it!

No idea where the enthusiasm I once had for this thing is gone, but you'll be glad to hear I'm busy trying to do stuff now instead of sitting around all day in my pants scratching my testicle hairs.

Nice image, I know, but for now I'll have to wipe that away for you so I can actually write about the sweaty thing I intended to when I titled this post after Jerry Marsden's song.

Yesterday I went on the Mersey river cruise, a ferry trip that lasted about an hour.

It was pretty good actually.

Sitting at the front of the ferry meant that when it was travelling at speed we were subjected to wind chill so intense that my face froze into a frown.

Then I realised, of course, that a frown is my only expression anyway so it wasn't too much of a bother.

I actually got off the ferry on the Wirral to take a look around.

Apart from the fact there isn't a city there, the Wirral appears to be quite similar to Liverpool, perhaps more affluent because it doesn't have a city there.

Right, so that's it, today's post done.

I'm off to spend the rest of this evening sitting in front of the TV in my pants, doing my best to avoid scratching any part of my anatomy too much.

Volunteering

Been busy over the last couple of days.

Spent Wednesday volunteering in a charity shop which was interesting and today I was at the Williamson Tunnels, a little known piece of history that I'm hoping to be a tour guide for soon.

So get on down there and I'll try not to bore you to death with anecdotes about Joseph Williamson's bizarre and eccentric lifestyle.

Photo Photography

So this year I've chosen to do Photography as one of my modules.

This is partly because I consider it less stressful than my filming stuff last year.

Anyway, I went in today and we all got to take pictures of things which was fun.

And now I'm tired and can't be bothered writing any more in this post.

300

Today marks my 300th post.

And yet I'm still not really saying anything.

Apologies are all mine to give though, I was awake for most of the night and had little sleep.

Still, 300 posts and I'm still attempting to spatter a sentence or two on here daily, surely that's somewhat impressive?

No?

Ah well then, screw you blogosphere.

Hurtling Along

Like a piece of cardboard trapped in the engine of a transcontinental aircraft.

Heading to New Zealand.

That is what I feel like sometimes, like I'm making decisions not based on what I actually want but what society 'wants', almost personifying it in the process.

And this is despite the fact that I value my individuality, my honesty and the fact that I am genuine no matter what.

Ah well.

Just Kept Running

Ok so for the first time in a while, I've gone road running twice in a week.

I literally need to sit down for the next couple of days now.

That is all.

Regular Use May Lead To

Being boring.

I can clearly see that my blog has become quite boring now, which isn't really that surprising considering that I'm now about three posts short of the 300 mark, and I'm quite a boring person in general.

However, I still intend to keep going despite this, and hopefully over the next few weeks my blog will become more exciting because I'm trying to become more involved with doing stuff on occasion.

Music

Occasionally I like to make music.

I've actually been doing it since I was about 12, only a couple of years after I began writing.

However, even though I can make a much better piece of music now than when I first started, I don't think it has come along as well as my writing has, and that's not even to say my writing is all that fantastic either.

Composing is great fun though, putting a piece of music together is something that I think everyone should try at least once, even if they suck like I do it is still a laugh.

One strange thing is that I've only recently realised that making music is one of my interests, despite the fact that I've been doing it for over eight years.

It is probably because there have been times when I haven't made anything for a while, but in the last few months I've actually managed to produce a wopping six tracks, and they are half decent as well.

Hopefully by x-mass I'll have made a few more.

After all, it is a lot of fun!

Eat 'til you Chuck

Sorry about yesterday's rather short post, I found myself busy but wanted to at least post something on the blog.

When it came to the content of the post, I couldn't think of anything so I just put a 2.

Right, well today I'm going to discuss my latest attempts to eat healthily.

They keep falling flat on my fat arse.

You may remember that in a period of about four months last year I was able to lose an incredibly amount of weight by exercising and eating good food, and I'm attempted to do something similar now because I find myself being borderline obese again.

This time though, it is bloody difficult.

You see, I'm addicted to eating.

And I don't just mean eating a bit of food here, I mean eating until I feel physically sick.

Despite the fact that I'm sitting here now in agony, I still ate a ridiculous amount of food a couple of hours ago, and no matter what I do I can't seem to stop myself from doing it.

Even before I had the major diet last year, I wasn't eating as much as I do now.

Basically it started when I went though my troubled times and I would order a take-away nightly, possibly leading to an expansion in my mind as to how much I need to eat.

It continues today, with me finding it almost impossible to keep a diet streak going for more than two days.

But I know that it isn't impossible, and I also know that I won't feel like I'm about to explode and throw up everywhere if I just do something, anything else other than shoving a huge amount of fatty food into my mouth like a starving mammoth.

So that is my goal at the minute, one that I'm finding hard to stick to, but it remains a goal nevertheless.

Eat healthily, and ye shall not want to spend most of the day on the bog letting a near endless stream of watery waste flow out of you.

Wool

*yawn*

Yar, it's been a long weekend.

Yesterday I played football for a good hour and ran around stupid, yet I'm still able to walk pretty well today which is quite good.

FIFA 10

I'm taking a break from my usual posts about not wanting to post in order to produce a short and to-the-point rant about a certain game that I foolishly purchased on Saturday.

Since 2007, EA has released each instalment of their massive Footy franchise to reasonably high critical acclaim.

This year's upgrade scored very highly in IGN UK's review, prompting me, gullible as I am, to head out and buy this monstrosity.

Now I've always been more of a PES person anyway, given that PES actually plays like real football and not an on-the-rail version that doesn't even let you choose which players you want to rotate.

Anyway, my gripe is simple really, I fail to understand why every year FIFA scores so highly.

For one, crossing does FUCK ALL... plain and simple.

The ball moves to bizarrely during an attempted cross that it looks like a lead balloon filled with helium.

For some reason, the FIFA programmers have got this idea that the ball becomes lighter than air if it goes above a player's head.

Corners suffer from the same problem, not to mention that trying to head the ball in FIFA is like trying to head a piece of paper.

Then you've got this new 360 dribbling which IGN seemed to love so much.

It would be great if it didn't mean that doing a full change of direction, i.e. stopping and turning around 90 degrees, was still possible somehow.

Did I mention that crossing was shit?

Well did I also mention that not only is trying to cross a pain in the arsehole, you've also got to contend with defenders that have the ability to reduce their matter count to zero for the brief second they run right through your striker to dispossess him.

Again, I must ask IGN, why the fuck did you give FIFA a good score?

It doesn't play like any football I've ever seen.

Shots are so weak that it honestly feels like the some of the players must have suffered severe muscular atrophy in the off-season.

I'm even surprised the ball actually reaches the keeper at all, because not only are you unable to hit it with any venom, it seems that the entire opposing team is lined up perfectly between you and the goal, making it almost impossible to hit the bastard through them.

Oh, and if they do block it, instead of it deflecting off in a random direction, their sponge-like abilities appear again, making them soak up the ball into some of the best first touches from being hit in the head by a point-blank shot that I have ever seen.

Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying that PES is the best thing ever, but at least it actually feels like the ball is real and not one that an art student made out of papier-maché.

Scoring is another gripe I have, in that it doesn't actually bring any excitement when you do manage to somehow get the keeper off balance and spew a half-arsed shot into the back of the net.

I think that I'm no longer going to trust IGN, and I'm certainly not buying FIFA "will gets loads of good reviews but plays like a bag of sand" 11.

Swimming in the Gener Pool of Mutation

The title has nothing to do with anything today, and neither does this post.

Perhaps it is because I have literally nothing that I want to talk about, not sure.

The Big 3

Today I ran just over 3 miles on the road.

The last time I managed this feat of endurance and stupidity was about four or five months ago.

So I'm off to celebrate... by eating very little... drinking no alcohol... and going back into Uni.

Oh, did I mention that this week I began my final university year?

My dissertation, and thus most of my waking time, awaits, so I must dash.

Gaming

I saw Gamer today.

Set in a future that isn't specific as to when, Gamer tells the story of Gerard "This is Sparta" Butler's character Kable, a convicted murderer and man on death row who has been given the chance to "play" his way to a pardon.

The only problem is he isn't the one playing, he's being played, quite literally, by a skinny nerd over the Internet.

The word nano-technology comes in somewhere to explain how this is possible, but as ridiculous as it may sound I thought the general idea was pretty good.

Oh, and it isn't just any game either, Kable has to blast his way through hundreds of real people and survive 30 "rounds" to get a pardon.

Anyway, enough of the premise.

Whilst the idea is good, the execution could be better.

Despite explosive opening scenes and some cool use of the camera early on, Gamer quickly leaves the awesome-ness of a not-so virtual battlefield bloodbath behind and falls back into a typical thriller with a predictable ending.

I can't give it a good rating because of this, but I can still say that it wasn't terrible, it was just generic, the sort of film you should consider renting on DVD if you have absolutely nothing else to do.
