The Last Post

To Review

Today, nearly half a year since I last rammed my laptop's keyboard for several minutes despite not really wanting to, the final post of this blog has finally arrived.

When I began it was purely on a whim; I was bored and needed something to do.

I felt that if I could beat the shit out of my keyboard every day until I died then by that time I'd be writing like Shakespeare, coupled with Dante and a sprig of Swift.

Alas, it was not to be, because I ran out of steam and general enthusiasm for the venture.

Mostly I just ran out of things to say.

I've learned a lot from writing this blog though.

The biggest thing I have learned is that it is better to write a blog about something that isn't so personal that it may come back to bite you very hard in the arse later on.

It would also probably serve as something of more interest to others if I didn't blab on about how I was able to throw one foot in front of the other for several miles on occasion.

My Degree

Readers will be happy to hear that I achieved a 2:1 in my degree, or for those who liked hearing the fancy name for it, an Upper Second Class degree with Honours.

I worked pretty hard as well.

Bio breaks were cut in half.

Water intake doubled.

I wasn't sure if my kidney's would survive that kind of onslaught but they did okay in the end.

Come Wednesday I graduate, and the era in which I attended the worst University in the country ends.

Thank fuck.

The Last Line

I think I shall end this post with a quote from a great man by the name of Carl Sagan, someone I draw much inspiration from (inspiration to not throw myself onto the nearest motorway).

In reference to an image taken by Voyager 1, he wrote,

There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits that this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish this pale blue dot, the only home we've ever know.

It Has Been a While

Yes, it has indeed been a while.

I think it goes without mentioning, to use a cliché, that this blog is no longer a daily affair.

Forcing myself to attempt to write something interesting every day is hard.

Hell, forcing myself to write something interesting any day is hard.

So that's just one of the reasons why this blog is being laid to rest, gently.

Weather

As usual for this time of year, the weather seems to have destroyed half the country.

Buses have stopped in Liverpool, and Taxis have followed suite.

Basically, unless you can be bothered walking, you're snowed in.

Not me though, oh no, I bought a bicycle yesterday, not just for this eventuality but also because I need to get more active and be less polluting.

The Eve of the New Year

It has dawned upon us, the decade that could spell the end of the world in 2012, and also the decade in which I'll turn 30.

By the time New Year's Eve 2019 rolls around, I'll be 30 years of age.

Holy shit.

I really hope I've got a job by then, otherwise I'm liable to take a step back and literally fuck my own face.

End transmission.

Running into the New Year

I ran on Sunday because I was annoyed.

I ran on Monday because I thought what the hell.

I ran today because I thought it would be a challenge, and I beat Monday's time by a huge three minutes.

Anyway, this coming year my resolution is to get fit, so running now isn't a bad start.

Happy Boxing Day

Yes, a day late I am.

Instead of writing like Yoda would speak I am just going to wish the blogosphere a Happy Boxing Day.

The Evils of the CV

I wrote quite a long post about my hatred for the CV at the beginning of the year, so I thought it might be apt to end the year with another, less angry rant on the same subject.

For the past couple of months, I've been working on my CV occasionally.

It probably amounts to quite a few hours of formatting and editing the bastard.

I'll point out that it continues to not work, in that it has so far not led to me getting an interview.

Obviously this has caused me some great frustration, but in some ways it has also renewed my desire to constantly work on my CV until it is so edited that the paper its printed on will be sucked violently into a quantum sized black hole.

This is mainly because I realise that if the CV isn't getting me an interview then I need to continue to work on the fucking thing until it eventually does.

And if I happen to be at retirement age when I'm finally offered a position at Gregg's as a till operator then it'll all be worth it.

Well, it won't really, but at least it gives me something to do.
